Christians , lesbians , white people and bloggers

I have come across quite a few religious blogs by people
who raise the question ...' could I give up all my worldly goods
for God'......and that kind of thing.
And it's not suprising that the people who have the greatest
difficulty with this are christians and religious people generally.
They make a big meal of the issue. How hard it is , and all that
to live up to that ideal......
.......but of course it's not a hard thing to do. I've done it
a few times myself. It's really easy. You just give everything you
have to someone who is in need. It's a simple as that.

Unless , of course , you one of these who go on and on
about God and all that. People who belive in God have a greater
attachment to their house and theirs kid's education and things of
that nature. ....And for for it's worth, it's won't kill you or your
family . You'll survive , people do.

I also come across those blogs by lesbians. You know the sort.
' I have x number of children and nice house etc. etc. and they go
on about life , its meaning and 'relationships' and you know , you
just know that they are white.
......and that they live in a nice neighborhood.
There are a growing number of Gay's who.......well , how can I put
it?, they have that look. You know. That look.
A certain smugness. An affluence that is not altogether healthy.

Where I live , here in Dublin , everyone is it seems , 'doing well'.
The globilisation generation. But there is a nightmare quality to
it all. They remind me of that 'Night of the Living Dead , film.

......as they used to say in the old days....." It's a good war they need".

And you also have those 'American Idol' and 'XFactor' types. The sort
who start crying when they are knocked out it. Afluent young healthy
well fed kids who make out that their life will not be worth living if they
cannot have the celebrity life.

It's no wonder that there are Muslim's all over the world who
have a contempt for it all......Mind you , the muslims are as bad
and worse in their way.

Which brings me to the question I have been asking myself
for a full lifetime now. "Why can't people be like me".

.....But then again, not everyone can be perfect.

I often wonder why people can't be 'like me' & then I realise that if every one was like me the world might not be a better place on the contrary the world might be a much better place.

I apologize in advance for being blunt, but I suspect that "It's a good war they need" really means "Misery loves company." Lots of people in the United States, whether religious or secular, conservative or "progressive," complain sanctimoniously about the acquisition and enjoyment of wealth. For example, see this recent book review.

'No need to apologize as there is a great deal of truth in what you say...and as someone who has not 'made it' ...there is a tendancy to look with envy at others......
But that was not what I was getting at. I will come back to this in a future post (within the next week or two ) and try to explain what I mean.
Thank you for your comments.

I wake up every day , go about my buisness and am ever aware that I am living in a parallel universe and that I have long since drifted away from the shore that most people inhabit.
It's a quite unpleasant feeling to feel yourself removed from the rest of society.
