Mammy , do you think I'm stupid.

Following on from what I wrote in my last post I have
been doing some more blog surfing and it is impossible to
escape from all the right wing American propaganda. One
thing that keeps being mentioned is September 11 and how
dreadfull it was etc. etc. But none of the people who go on and
on about it ever seems to stop and think about all those
people in just about every part of the world who have been
killed by US inspired counter revolutions.
And the dogs in the street know that those who carried
out the Sep.11 raid were trained by the US. So why do American
people not put the blame where it belongs. And why , when
they are bombing countries do they object to someone attacking
their country. Looked at objectively the American army , airforce
and navy not to mention secret service have killed thousands and
possibly tens of thousands of people so why do they complain
if someone decides to return the compliment?.
And they never seem to ask themselves why so many hate
the US. They just keep sending their sons and daughters half
way across the world to kill people they more often than not
know nothing about.
They are strange people. They sacrifice their kids no matter
who asks them. They don't seem to be capable of refusing.
They must have little regard for them. I just cannot understand it.

I'm not a brave man. I'm not the sort of person who would be
paticularly heroic in battle. In fact I would be petrified in a war
situation. But if someone gave me a gun and said I had to go
and fight and risk my life the first thing I would do with that
gun would be to shoot the bastard who gave it to me.
And if ANYONE told my son or daughter they had to go and
risk life and limb I would cut their heart out. If God got down
off the cross and all the dead heroes were to rise and ask or
tell my kids they had to die for some cause I would kill the
lot of them without a second thought.
In the USA if you buy a gun to protect your home and family
then the most likely person to be shot is not the burglar or
rapist or whoever it is that you are afraid of ....the most likely
victim will be you own child. That's a fact. It's a simple
objective fact. But thy go out and keep buying guns.
It makes no sense. But they keep doing it.
And while I'm at it can I remind all US citizens that there
is not and never has been a constitutional right to have
a gun under American law. But when a lot of folks are making
lots and lots of money out of guns no one is going to make
to much fuss about the legality of the situation.
And the guys making all that money from guns that will
not protect you in your home but very possible kill your
children are the same people who make guns for the military
who then send your kids to some place they didn't even
know existed to get killed themselves.
I have often heard it said that Americans are the
most stupid people on the planet and to be honest its hard
not to agree with that. Not all Americans as there are many
who realize what's going on but they are in a minority.

Let my people speak

According to the blog directory Topsites I have had
about 13,500 unique hits to this blog in about six weeks. I
am with I think four other directories so it is a reasonable
guess to say I have had 15,000 hits on my blog. The counter I
have is 'fixed' so that does not count. But no matter how you
look at it it would seem that quite a few folks out there are
reading this and if you add on repeats I have had over 50,00.
But for some reason or other no one speaks to me. I get no
comments....the ones that I have had come from a friend so
they don't count either.
I have asked on a few occasions if there is anyone out there
as I would love to hear form them them....but all I get is silence.
"what ever you say say nothing"
"silence is golden"
"less said sooner mended"

In the mean time I have not been doing anything. Or rather
I have been stuck in front of my computer reading blogs. It's
addictive. And all those 'God bless America' ones.....why do
American belive all the rubbish about the flag. I think they
must be the only nation on earth who keep insisting that they
are proud to be American.
Now if you ARE an American don't get the wrong idea. I'm
not having a 'go' at you , it's just that for the life of me I really
do not understand. For instance , I have never met an irish
person who said they were proud to be irish...there are of
course a few Sinn Fein morons who express sentiments like
that but by and large if the man in the street was to say things
like that here people would wonder what was wrong with him.
And I'm not proud to be irish , why should I be....that's like
saying that I'm proud to be human. And then there is the flag.
Personally I could not care less if they dragged it in the street.
I mean it's a piece of cloth that's all. And then there is the president.
We have a president here but no one thinks she is in any way
special , she's just a woman doing a job.
I can only speak as I find but no one in ireland would dream
of flying the flag from their house. And while ireland is a catholic
country no one would suggest that it had God on it's side.
And then there is communism......it's would appear the everyone
in the states has a compulsion to keep telling their neighbor's
that they are not communists but the thing that to my way of
thinking takes the biscuit is the position they all seem to have
on the subject of welfare. Welfare seems to be a dirty word
in America. Now the arms manufacturers get and ask for huge
sums of money from the state but if the unemployed ask then
they are regarded as unpatriotic or something like that. And
now you have the mad , really mad situation in the states where
these arms manufacturers are in charge of welfare.

And so , a word of wisdom to all you USA citizens. The money
the government has is YOURS.....it's Y-O-U-R money and if you
need money for medical bills or because you find yourself in
difficulty then just put your hand out and demand it as it is
Y-O-U-R MONEY
And the next time someone asks you to send your son or daughter
to the other end of the word just tell them to go themselves. I'm
not making a political point here in relation to the current war but
just making the general point that if ANY irish politician insisted
that my son went to some war zone I would .......well , let's just
say that I would not be too happy. Apart from that if anyone
asked my kid's to go and fight a war they just tell them to go
to hell as they were brought up not to be stupid.

Americans seem to be confused as to what patriotism actually is.
Let me put it this way. If you don't look after the less fortunate then
what exactly is the state for. And why feel any allegiance to the same
state if you are then told that because you want to help the less
fortunate you are a communist.
Americans , in my experience , belive it all. They actually
belive there is a communist menace and have done so for years.
They , it seems belive everything they are told. I guess that that
sums it all up.....they belive. There is no actuall reason why they
should but they just insist on believing. The rich in America make
an obscene amount of money out of the wars that it is involved in
and they are never shy about claiming it and wanting more and
yet people allow their kids to go out and die while these same
good people are raking in the money.
Another bit of advise for any Americans reading this. Next time
someone asks your kids to go to war tell your kids to just say no....let
the people who have the massive arms contracts go. And if they
tell you that Liberty must be defended then just say "if you feel
that way then go and defend it ".
The world will still keep spinning on its axis...the sun will rise
in the morning ....the universe will not implode.

Next time the man comes looking for heroes just tell him.
"Sorry , there are no fools living here".

Elvis

For the fifth year running Elvis has been the
top selling dead artist But his family never the less sold
an 85% share in Elvis Presley Enterprises to a fellow by
the name of Sillerman. This means that he own's Graceland.
He paid £114 million for his 85%.....but why did the family
sell in the first place , they hardly need the money. It's all
very depressing....'seem's that for the right price anything
is for sale.
But Elvis belongs to us all....

The homeless guy

I have been sitting in front of my computer most of the
day going through blogs most of which don't appeal to me.
Some do of course ,just the occasional one here and there.
'Seems there are a lot of folks in the USA who are not too
happy with illegal immigrants right now. Some of the sites,
the right wing ones are I think a little scary....some present
themselves as wives or family members of service men but
they seem just a bit too professional for that. I get the
distinct impression that there is some bigger agenda in the
background with many of these 'patriotic' blogs....I doubt if
they are anyone's friend least of all the service mens.

But like I said I've been surfing now for hours and my
eyes are quite tired and I had decided to give it a rest for
tonight but before switching off I thought I would look in
and see how the homeless guy was doing as I like to
check out his posts once or twice a week.
When I got to his site there was nothing there....well there
was one post ...something , a book about Jesus or
rather a book about people who quote Jesus or something
like that but that was all. No other entries. For some reason
or other my first thought was "I hope there is nothing wrong".
Why I should think that I really don't know. Maybe all his
posts were there as usual and they just didn't show in my
browser. But I DID feel a bit uneasy...I mean his blog was
just about almost blank. So whatever the reason is I do hope
that all is well with him. But it got me to thinking.
It's strange how we grow attached to people that we have
never met and really don't know from Adam. And even
more so on the web...I mean its so , I don't know what the
word is I'm looking for...I was on the verge of saying
superficial' but that is not the right word but whatever
the word is ...it's fast ... I mean we go click click click
and visit maybe a couple of hundred people a day.
And we more often than not judge them to a greater or
lesser degree and in our own minds see what we perceive
to be their flaws and then we click yet again and go on to
pass judgment on the next blog....
The Homelessl Guy lives in Las Vegas and his life even
sounds quite romantic , like something out of a road movie
but I suppose that when things go wrong with life its
all the same where you live.....'Still , Las Vegas?. It puts
a certain image in your mind.
Well , it's 10:30 pm here in Dublin and my eyes just wont
stay open much longer so I had better get off line.
I hope you are all well , whoever you are and wherever
you are. And if you see the homeless guy tell him I said hello.

Treat me nice

In the last couple of days I have joined a traffic
exchange site so if you have just stopped between some
frantic clicking then "Hello". As luck would have it no
sooner had I joined than I found that just now I really
don't have any news or indeed anything to say at all. But
in the spirit of posting every day and all that I'll waffle
on here for a bit. -How do you spell waffle..is it waffle or
what?. I have also joined a link exchange site so if you
are looking for someone to exchange links with just give
me a shout. If your watching American Idol just now
and like , as I do , Taylor Hicks then there is a link on the
left to a fan site which has some excellent audio of Taylor.
It's raining and somewhat cool here in Dublin and I'm
sitting in front of my computer hoping against hope for
something like inspiration but it's alluding me.
If I had a garden I might stop now and go out and tend
to it but I don't have one unfortunately but if you do then
try Tom The Busdriver who lives in the flat next to me.
He is a harmless soul and would be delighted if you were
to ask him for advice with your herb's or anything like
that. Pop into him at gandentales and say hello.
I'll try and write something a little more interesting
tomorrow.

Top blogs

How do they do it. Become top blogs I mean?. The answer
is of course very simple. They advertise. That's how they all
start. But they don't call it that and would deny that they
had ever advertised their blogs instead if they had to put a
name to it they would perhaps admit to networking and what
is that after all but advertising...they put the word out amongst
friends and colleagues , buisness associates and the like. The
sort of people who live the online internet life.. who do it for
a living. I guess all the top bloggers have a few hundred
readers before they publish a word. And these readers link
up and in turn have similar friends who are linked to them.
As most of these fellows are journalists they give each other
write ups in the trade journals....which in their case happens
to be papers like the Herald Tribune and Wall Street Journal
and the like and this also is a form of advertising.
And they get to publish the inside news , the hot stuff , and
in short have all the connections that anyone could ever want.
But the real trick is this. They pander to the vanity of their
readers. Let me explain what I mean.
Boingboing and blogs of that nature don't advertise ointment
for lets say , piles. They don't carry adds for incontinence. And
why?. The reason is of course that readers of that kind of
blog don't have piles or incontinence. They don't carry adds for
Ford cars because the kind of people who read their blogs
don't drive Ford cars. All the adds they carry must flatter the
reader as the reader is a 'winner' ie someone who can
afford to buy a foreign car , someone who is healty with fresh
features and good teeth and none of the common ailment's that
ordinary real people suffer from.
By the way, what I said about Ford cars, that wasn't a figure
of speech or anything like that , I meant that literally as most
of these top blogs wont accept an advert from Ford.
Image is everything. And as for substance?.
In one of the latest offerings from Boingboing there is a bit
about Singularity .....if you want to know what that is
you can check the blog in question....But they give this
Singularity a good write up. There's even a link to Stanford
University and if you didn't know any better would think
that you are talking part in some great debate.
But there is no great debate just some second hand thoughts
which were doing the rounds when I was a kid in the 50's and
that most people had grown out of by the 60's.
As a very dear friend of mine used to say , "Its all wallpaper".
